The latest monitoring and risk assessment methodologies are combined with theoretical and numerical approaches to achieve a new, more reliable and faster methodology.
Geofit employs a compact Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) array solution for real-time 3D mapping of underground utilities. It relies on a massive antenna array with two polarizations, providing a huge amount of data, thus dramatically increasing the detection performance and the level of accuracy of the survey.
We are also innovating when it comes to Structural Health Monitoring. To know the health and safety of a building, building structure is monitored by proper sensors, radars and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles to gather reliable and useful data. Such data, once gathered, is broadcasted via Wi-Fi/LAN connection to the data centre where it is finally filtered and analysed. This allows achieving a numerical model showing the current dynamic behaviour of the building.

Use of Ground Based Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (GBInSAR) for SHM
Knowledge & IP
Partner: SIART
Two challenges of GBInSAR for building SHM during geothermal drilling are being addressed
- 2D Spatial resolution: the target position is represented with range-azimuth coordinates → the bidimensional resolution can lead to geometrical ambiguities, poor resolution over vertical surfaces
- Phase wrap if displacement between two consecutive measurement is larger than λ/4 ≈ 1 mm → maximum detectable velocity ≈ 10 cm/h
Two approaches to solve these challenges are being worked on - Vertical MIMO antenna + circular trajectory data analysis: PRO: fast data acquisition, CON: new hardware/software development required
- Multi-baseline trajectory: PRO: only software development needed, CON: very slow data acquisition unless a new acquisition strategy is evaluated
